Post subject: | Neck repair jig needed |
Hi, I have an older Yamaha Acoustic, that suffered a fall and snapped the head stock off of the neck. I am looking to make a jig , and a suggestion for the glue of choice for this repair Thanks in advance , Bo |

A picture or two of the break would make advice easier. |

I'm a novice, but this has worked for me on 8 or 10 guitars. I made a simple jig that clamps to the neck and has a vertical piece that keeps the headstock from sliding out under clamp pressure. Now, this works as long as there is enough striation in the grain to positively locate the headstock. If not, I have another jig that is a little more elaborate that positively locates the pieces. There is a caul that covers the neck for clamping to the fret board, and one that is used for the clamps over the headstock tang. These are early pics, and I've since added lines to help with the alignment. I also use a caul that clamps to the vertical to assure there is no upward movement. Titebond I is your friend. If you don't get a good alignment you can use heat to separate it and try again. I'll just post the pics and if you have questions you can ask after you've seen them. |
